Butt fusion, in short
Butt fusion joins polyethylene pipe end to end. The crew faces both ends square, heats them on a heater plate, then presses them together and holds them while the joint cools. It is the usual method for longer fused HDPE strings when the project procedure calls for a butt joint rather than an electrofusion coupler or a compression fitting. Which diameters this machine will clamp, what power it needs, and which inserts are in the box are confirmed on enquiry — not guessed from the picture.
It sits with the rest of our welding equipment and consumables. Pipe and fittings for the same work are on HDPE high pressure and electrofusion.
